Privacy

No accounts, no typed names, no chat. Here is everything the game keeps.

Your game save

Online play creates a random private token in a secure, HTTP-only browser cookie. It connects you to a server-owned player profile containing Speed, banked trophies, rebirths, Gems, unlocks, equipped items and the current run’s unbanked trophies and checkpoint. It is used for gameplay, not advertising. Clearing the cookie can disconnect you from that player. The cookie belongs to this website only.

An exported recovery file contains a private token that can restore the same player. Keep it private. Exporting a new recovery file replaces the previous recovery token. Recovery credentials expire after one year.

Other runners

Other players can see your generated name, position, Speed, trophies, rebirth badge and equipped items while you share a room. The server receives movement controls to calculate progress and reject invalid actions. You cannot type a name or send free-text chat. Leaderboards show generated names and earned progress, not private tokens. Completed runs may be recorded as game positions for labelled replays and shareable challenges. These contain the generated name, stage, starting progress and recorded movement, not audio or video of you. Recent runs are available for up to seven days, and the game keeps at most 512 of them, so older links may expire sooner.

On your device

Local practice progress and settings use browser local storage. These practice values are separate from online progress. You can delete local storage through your browser. Settings includes export and import controls.

Hosting and retention

Cloudflare hosts the game and necessarily receives ordinary connection information such as IP addresses, request paths and browser headers to deliver and protect it. Cloudflare keeps sampled request and error logs for up to seven days to diagnose failures. Inactive online profiles are eligible for deletion after 12 months. Expired recovery credentials are removed in bounded daily cleanup batches.

Anonymous counts

We use Cloudflare Analytics Engine to count page views and how the game is played, so we can see where players get stuck and fix it. Game counts cover the game loading and starting, stages cleared, the first fall and the first blocked gate in each stage, banking trophies, rebirths, Shop purchases and gifts, losing the connection, and leaving the page: where you were, such as base or a stage number, and roughly how long you had played. Records also contain the public page path, country, device category, whether the request looks automated, and the site version, plus page-speed measurements and fixed error categories. Page-visit counts note the domain of a website that linked to the page, if your browser shares one, and a broad source category such as a named search engine. These counts use no visitor identifier or tracking cookie and never include anything you type.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and whether a visit played the game: pressing Play the first time on a page sends it one fixed tool_used event with the page path, never your progress or anything about your player. It may set first-party _ga cookies to recognize repeat visits. Google receives the page path, page title, limited campaign tags, the referrer's origin, and ordinary browser and connection information, including your IP address and the approximate location our hosting provider works out from it (country, region, city and approximate coordinates). Our server passes that location on because these requests reach Google through this website. Enhanced measurement and advertising features are off, and we don't use Google Analytics for advertising. Event-level data is kept for 14 months. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics doesn't load for visitors in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Quebec, when location is unknown, or when the browser sends Global Privacy Control. Automated and test traffic is excluded. You can remove analytics cookies through your browser's site-data settings.

Players of every age

Speed Obby is a game for a general audience, and it is built so that nobody has to share personal information to play: there are no accounts, typed names, emails, photos, chat or payments. Analytics is used only to run and improve the game, never to build advertising profiles. Built-in recording, when used, records the game canvas and its own sound only and stays on your device. A downloadable playtest report contains frame times, event counts and browser audio-latency estimates. It has no player or recovery token and is not sent to us automatically.

Ads

The game shows no ads. If that changes, this page will say so before any ad appears.
